Our very own Rusty Kennedy recently received the Distinguished Service Award from AMA President Bob Brown. This award is given by vote only of the Executive Council for meritorious work for AMA. Rusty is a life member and received the award in recognition of his service as the Leader Member Committee Chairman for the last five years and the October 2015 EC meeting. A concerned model airplane enthusiast submitted the attached photo as proof of his good deed. It seems that our VP was wandering in a soybean field until rescued by Jesse Brinson of the Central Carolina R/C Modelers club. Jay was made to hold the model until help could be directed to him. Seriously, our AMA officers seem to be a lot more visible at the club level these days. The true report as Jesse says, ” This was taken at the Model Aviation Day /Warbird Event at Central Carolina R/C Modelers. Jay’s Panther was a little underpowered and made a graceful landing in the bean field. As the photo proves, “Jay Marsh is Out-Standing in the Field of Model Aviation”! Great work Jay ! ...

AMA DISTRICT IV NEWSLETTER Volume 3, 2015 Hello District IV Members, It’s alive! The New District IV Website is up and running. The announcement was made at the Joe Nall last week during the National Membership Meeting that the new District IV website is live. You can get to it directly using either, www.amadistrict-iv.org or www.ama-d4.org. It was explained to everyone after the announcement, the website is like a child that will continue to grow and mature over time and currently with 18 authors feeding the posts, it will never get stale but have new and fun information added continually. We also have plans for additional features such as club newsletters and an event calendar which links to the club, field, GPS, and weather even on your smart phone. If you want to see an activity or offering not currently on the site just ask our Webmaster Jack Upchurch, webmaster@ama-d4.org.
